Coke oven gas, also known as the coke oven gas. Refers to the use of several kinds of bituminous coal preparation into coking coal in coking furnace, through high temperature carbonization, a combustible gas generated in the production of coke and tar products at the same time, is the byproduct of coking industry.
Coke oven gas is a mixture, its yield and composition for coking coal quality and coking process conditions vary, the general per ton of dry coal production of coke oven gas 300~350m3 (standard). Its main components are hydrogen (55%~60%) and methane (23%~27%), also contains a small amount of carbon monoxide (5%~8%), more than C2 of unsaturated hydrocarbons (2%~4%), carbon dioxide (1.5%~3%), oxygen (0.3%~0.8%)), nitrogen (3%~7%). The hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, C2 or more unsaturated hydrocarbons as combustible component, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen is not combustible components.
Coke oven gas belongs to medium calorific value gas, the calorific value per standard cubic meter 17~19MJ, suitable for high temperature industrial furnace fuel and city gas. Coke oven gas containing hydrogen content is high, after the separation of synthesis of ammonia, other ingredients such as methane and ethylene can be used as raw material for organic synthesis.
Coke oven gas is poisonous and explosive gases, explosion limit in air as 6%~30%.
